MISSION CHURCH SIGNS! The Department of Missions may be able to help those Mission Churches who need
financial assistance in changing signs to reflect our new Anglican identity and to end confusion of both parishioners and guests.
Please contact Fr. Bill G soon to discuss this opportunity.

PRE-CONVENTION DEANERY MEETINGS SCHEDULED:
Delta Deanery, October 12, 3: PM at St. Mary’s, Manteca Yosemite Deanery, October 12, 3:30 PM at St. Luke’s, Merced

CONVENTION REQUESTS: It is the desire of our Bishop that this Convention be a celebration of new life and ministry rather than the typical business meeting we have all yearned to avoid. Part of this celebration will be a joyous festal Eucharist at the end of the
Convention. We ask that each church bring Church Banner, or banners, with them (with stands – if possible) to carry in as we process into the Cathedral. Please review andadjust your older banners to emphasize our new Anglican identity and symbols.

Additionally, we seek to hear short testimonies throughout the Convention of how some of you met the Lord, or how He answered prayers, or performed other miracles in your lives. If you feel capable of giving short (approximately 3 minute) testimonies, or would like to recommend someone who’s witness is inspiring, please contact this Editor as soon as possible.

DIOCESE OF SAN JOAQUIN VISION STATEMENT
Bringing all to an ever-expanding knowledge and joy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

THE REV. CANON DAVID ROSEBERRY TO BE CONVENTION SPEAKER/PREACHER: When the Rev.
David H. Roseberry founded Christ Church, Plano, TX, in 1985, he knew that the church would need a purpose, a mission to follow. His five criteria for the mission: Biblical, big, clear, effective and pro-active. He decided that the Great Commandment in Matthew 28:16-19 should be Christ Church’s mission. It is the foundation for every sermon, every ministry, every project they undertake. It has been the same

since 1985. Christ Church is a member of the Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMiA). Formerly an Episcopal church, Christ Christ severed ties with The Episcopal Church USA on September 15, 2006 and joined the AMiA on January 22, 2007.

VISION, VALUES, MISSION; FRIENDSHIP EVANGELISM;
CHURCH MULTIPLICATION, ETC: A reminder that those congregations looking to review their purposes, their effectiveness, and their methodologies may find that the programs put out by the Bishop’s Office have been effective for the churches who have
participated and put to use the materials received. Please contact the Canon to the Ordinary to learn more about what we have to offer, or who we might be able to refer you to for the
maximum amount of help and encouragement

INFORMATION FROM PRIOR FLYERS

PENSION NEWS: The meeting on Saturday hosted by the Church Pension Group
provided much information related to members of non-TEC dioceses. First recommendation: call them to talk about your personal account! You may discover some very positive benefits exist

As you should know by now, the Diocesan Council voted recently that they had approved our clergy to enter the Anglican Communion Network (ACN) Pension Plan to replace the Church Pension Group. Council recognized that this 401k Plan was somewhat “bare-bones” but they understood that this Plan could be augmented later, especially understanding that the Common Cause Partnership would be able to generate a much broader base of participants over time. Please know that the Common Cause Partnership has been working much faster than anyone could have imagined, and we are now told that a more robust “403b Church Plan” (somewhat different than the normal “403b Plan”) is expected to be available in three to four months. According to our contacts at the ACN, this new plan will have: simpler reporting procedures for Churches and the Diocese; The ability to use the combined salary/housing combinations we are
familiar with under the CPG; Simpler funding mechanisms from the Diocesan House. An authoritive ACN Representative said that he has no qualms about recommending the current 401k plan, but suggested that we consider waiting just a few more months to be able to review
the entire new plan from the Common Cause Partnership. Those already enrolled within the ACN Plan may roll over their investments in to the new CCP Plan later. The Diocesan Council
must consider this issue at their next meeting in October

NEW APPLICATIONS FOR LIFE, DENTAL & DISABILITY
INSURANCE: Debbie Matley has sent new applications to all our Clergy regarding new Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, and Disability Insurance Policies. You should know that the policies we currently hold will not continue beyond December except for clergy who remain part of the Episcopal Church. Our newer policies include the same benefits at slightly less cost. There is optional life insurance above the $50,000 basic policy but you, or your employer, must pay that separately. IMPORTANT NOTICE: The beneficiary designation form which was enclosed with the packet was for the optional policies up to $200,000. The form for the basic
$50,000 was mailed Tuesday in a separate mailing today. Please call Debbie with any questions
about how to complete the forms, etc.

FR. BARTHOLOME SERVICE: The Rev. Watson "Fr. Bart" Bartholome died September 19 in Tulare. Fr. Bart was the Rector Emeritus of St. John, Tulare, having served as Vicar from 1977 to 1987, coming to the Diocese of San Joaquin from ministry in the Diocese of
Los Angeles. He served in retirement in the Diocese of San Joaquin as a supply priest and priest-in-charge for several congregations, the most notable being his ministry to Epiphany, Corcoran, for many years. Immediate cremation has been ordered; the date of the Burial Office appears to be on Sunday, October 26th, at St. John’s 3:PM. Please pray for his soul and the souls
of all the faithful departed; and for God's gracious strength and comfort for his widow, Vivian, and for their children, Dave and Susan, and their families.

BISHOP TO VISIT DEANERIES: Bishop Schofield is returning to an earlier form of visiting the Deaneries on a regular basis to meet with anyone who wishes to speak with him, not only his clergy. He has announced the following schedule for your calendars:
